People don't really appreciate things that other people do, do they? 

When you do something nice, people will think that you have a motive. When you do it a few more times, people take it that you SHOULD do it. When you stop doing it, they are disappointed, they think that you ARE SUPPOSED to do it. But is it really the case? And because you are supposed to do it, they seldom thank you when you do it.
